Vodafone World of Difference

2012 Winner - Camila Nadine Ebany Dohle

Why would you like to work for your chosen charity?

Some people get a kick out of jumping out of airplanes, I get a kick out of giving back to the community and helping people. I am very much results driven, and could never work in an environment where the results of my contributions are not visible. Cambridge House is the perfect. They are a driving force for community development in Southwark, sponsoring youth leadership programs and outreach projects as well as providing advocacy services and free legal advice to those in need. Although have an extensive academic background – I am currently studying a second Masters on the Documentation and Description of Endangered Languages at the School of Oriental and African Studies – as important it is to learn and be open to new ideas and experiences, it is also important to apply this knowledge to accumulate practical experience. I wish to work with Cambridge House not only because I have a good set of skills and experiences which would be put to good use at Cambridge House, but also because I wish to learn more about the work they do. I am thoughtful, self-motivated and flexible, and work equally well with others as I do individually.

What would be your role in the charity you have chosen to work for?

Cambridge House acts as a large umbrella body for several other charities and they hope to increase their number of tenants and hence productivity and outreach by the end of next year. In order to keep output at high levels, they will need to adapt their internal communications strategy to accommodate an increased workforce. My role within Cambridge House will be to act as an Internal Communications Consultant who will develop a strategy to improve communication between Cambridge House and ts existing and future tenants. This will involve setting up internal monthly newsletters – coordinating this in such a way that all tenants contribute equally to its production and organizing exchange platforms between the several charities.
